ThIs Thompson Center Hawken Rifle is used with scattered marks on the stock, brown speckles on the blue, and patina on the brass furniture. The early style percussion lock with erect hammer color case hardening is aging to a brown patina. With an overall weight of 9.1 pounds and a trigger reach of 14", this rifle is perfectly suited for today's average to larger size shooters.

The heart of the rifle is the T/C .54 caliber barrel. Measuring 28" in length the barrel blue is turning brown and has the later Thompson Center sights. The front sight is a blued steel bead with a appropriate elevation and windage adjustable rear sight. The bore is mostly bright, but does have some scattered dark spots. You can feel the areas have a slight resistance with a tight cleaning patch, but it does not tear the patch.

Stocked in a nice piece of straight grain walnut the stock has scattered handling marks. The brass furniture has a mellow patina. Then top view sows the hooked breech, which allows the barrel to be easily dismounted. Simply remove the single wedge key forward and below the barrel, put the lock into the half-cock position, remove the ramrod and lift the barrel out for easy cleaning. The polished brass triggerguard has a wide bow for the double set triggers. The ramrod is fitted with 10-32 threaded brass tips for loading and cleaning accessories. A brass sideplate surrounds the single bolt. Further back on the rifle the beaver tail cheek can be seen, standard issue on T/C rifles.

Ignition for the rifle is provided by this large T/C percussion lock. The lock is color case hardened and has aged to a silvery gray patina. It also has the factory engraving found on most Thompson Center locks. Below the lock a set of double lever, double set triggers has been installed. Properly tuned and adjusted the triggers can be used set or unset. When set the trigger pull is quite light, unset it is a touch heavier around 4 or 5 pounds.

In used condition with a well aged appearance. The bore is mostly bright, but does have scattered speckling. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
